Warriors vs. Suns

The Warriors and Suns face off on Christmas Day

Two of the top teams in the league— the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns—will battle it out on Christmas day in Phoenix. The Warriors, led by MVP favorite Steph Curry, aim to take down the hottest team in the NBA, with the Suns boasting a 9-1 record in their last 10 games. Both teams are currently fighting for first in the Western Conference with the Suns having a 25-5 record, and the Warriors having a 25-6 record. This Christmas day thriller will likely be a preview of the Western Conference finals this year.

The Suns, coming off of an NBA finals appearance against the Milwaukee Bucks last season, were doubted at the start of the season, with many fans and analysts not believing they could replicate the same form of play for a second consecutive year. Despite a slow start, the Suns instantly turned it around, winning all of their games in November, including a 104-96 win over the Warriors. Led by veteran Chris Paul and star player Devin Booker, the Suns once again look like finals favorites with their fantastic play style under Coach Monty Williams. The Suns’ supporting cast also includes former first overall pick Deandre Ayton and Small Forward Mikal Bridges, who have also contributed to the team’s success. The Suns hope to win on Christmas Day to further solidify themselves as not only the best team in the Western Conference, but also in the league

Meanwhile, the Suns will have their hands full with Curry: the Warriors starting point guard who is arguably playing at a higher level than ever before. The Warriors are the other team tied for first in the Western Conference, and although Curry has played a huge part in this, do not count out the supporting players on the Warriors who have also exceeded expectations. Both Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins have massively improved from their play in the previous season, while former G-league player Gary Payton II has stepped up defensively. Even though they lead the Western Conference, the Warriors are missing two key players in the lottery pick: James Wiseman and the other half of the “Splash Bros,” Klay Thompson.  With both these two soon returning and no signs that Curry will slow down, the Warriors hope to continue to prove they are the best team in the league and NBA Finals favorites.

My Wish:

My Christmas wish is to have a highly intense contest that will go all the way down to the wire as the two most dominant teams display why they are in their position. As the race right now is extremely close, I want to see who is going all the way to the NBA finals.
