The Lance’s NFL Playoff Predictions

  • The Eagles defense has been stellar all year, with MVP candidate Jalen Hurts making his return for the playoffs, the offensive line being among the league’s best, a dominating run game, and elite core of pass catchers including A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert the Eagles have the recipe for an NFC Championship. The Bengals, with their dynamic young offensive core are poised to make a return to the Super Bowl except this time they are more experienced and have a better offensive line. With that said, the Lombardi trophy will be held in Cincinnati for the first ever time in history.

  • A quarterback with a nickname given off of his clutch gene. Joe “ice in his veins” Burrow, is the centerpiece of an offense full of weapons at every turn. The Bengals have what it takes to take down the powerhouses in the AFC, and make a back to back run in the Super Bowl. The team to look out for in the AFC, the dominant 49ers has one of the greatest stories to be told. Brock Purdy, Mr. Irrelevant, is named super bowl MVP: the plot with the cherry on top. The last pick in the NFL draft, along with an offense full of super stars will be a force to be reckoned with throughout the playoffs, and will end the season hoisting the Lombardi.

  • While the Bengals are the 3 seed in the AFC, they are on a hot streak going into the playoffs. A team with Super Bowl experience, their poor offensive line was the downfall of them last year, with quarterback Joe Burrow getting sacked 7 times in the superbowl. However, this year, their receiving core is one of the best, with Jamarr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd all healthy. Combine this with their improved offensive line and they are bound to make a run. While Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs is coming off of an MVP caliber season, I think the Bengals offense will be too much for them. As for the NFC, the Eagles-49ers conference championship is a toss up, but with Jalen Hurts back combined with the overpowering Eagles offensive line and receiving game, the Eagles will be too much for young Brock Purdy. In the Super Bowl, the momentum the Bengals have built up from beating two top teams, the Chiefs and the Bills, will carry them to a tight win over the Eagles.

  • The Chargers have been heating up as of late, which is a huge factor in who will make a deep run in the playoffs–getting hot at the right moment. A large variable in the Chargers success has been the health of their star players like quarterback Justin Herbert, wide receiver Keenan Allen, wide receiver Mike Williams, and edge rusher Joey Bosa. With many of these players returning, I can see the Chargers catching some teams off guard and making a shocking run to the AFC Championship behind second year stud, Justin Herbert. I also see the Eagles as fraudulent and they have cooled off a little bit since their 8-0 run to start off the season. This may be because quarterback Jalen Hurts hurt(s) his shoulder forcing the Eagles to turn to Minshew (not so) magic but I think the Eagles are lacking momentum and will be extremely rusty coming off their bye week so with the right matchup, the Eagles may be one and done. This all clears a perfect path for the blazing hot Bengals, who have plenty of playoff experience, coming off a narrow defeat in last year’s Super Bowl. With Joe Burrow under center, the Bengals will be the winner’s of their first ever Super Bowl.
