Non-Expert Grammy Predictions
Who We Want & Think Should Win at the 65th Grammy Awards
It’s the time of the year when the music industry either pops or flops: the Grammys. We’re here to predict who will win at the 65th Grammy Awards, while simultaneously giving our opinions on who we think should win. We narrowed it down to the most relevant categories (sorry if you like jazz).
Record Of The Year
What we want: Adele’s ‘Easy on Me’
What we think: Adele’s ‘Easy on Me’
Thankfully, Adele’s heartbreaking divorce gave us the perfect record: ‘Easy On Me’. When we think of the Grammys, we think of Adele. Clearly her voice and lyrics are the perfect combination for another Grammy win, as she already has 15. ‘Easy On Me’ has been considered the record of the year long before we knew it was even nominated, so we think Adele and her team are going home with the win in this category and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
Album Of The Year
Liv wants ‘30’ to win and thinks it’s going to.
Charlotte would rather anything else win it, but thinks ‘RENAISSANCE’ is going to.
Liv: Charlotte is delusional; Adele is the queen of the Grammys and will win album of the year for ‘30’. Let’s rewind to 2017 when Adele quite literally rocked Beyoncé’s world with her dominant Grammy wins (plural!!). Adele deserved to win the Album of the Year in 2017, and she deserves to win it again this year. Although ‘30’ is about a gut wrenching divorce and moving on, it has redefined her as a powerful, independent woman. ‘Oh My God’ literally had me saying Oh. My. God. If Adele doesn’t win this award, the Grammys are more like the Scammys.
Charlotte: I know this article isn’t a hot take, but hot take: Beyoncé is overrated. Regardless I wouldn’t be surprised if she takes home album of the year. ‘RENAISSANCE’ is her first studio album since ‘Lemonade’ back in 2016, and I think Beyoncé is coming for her revenge on Adele. While she isn’t my personal favorite, clearly people still love her after she made $24 million for just ONE performance in Dubai.
Song Of The Year
What we want: ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)’
What we think: ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)’
“’Cause I remember it all, all, all / Too well…. ” Traumatizing, decade-defining, beautiful, and so much more. ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)’ should be everyone’s song of the year. It has been our go-to shower song since it came out and ALWAYS gets the job done. We honestly can’t imagine anything else winning after ATW broke the Guinness World Record for longest song ever to reach #1 on the Billboard Top 100. You can’t argue with Guinness; ATW is the song of the year.
Best New Artist
Who we want: Omar Apollo
Who we think: Omar Apollo
We are rooting 100% for Omar Apollo to win best new artist. Totally not because he’s the only one we know… (but seriously, his competition is named Wet Leg?) Apollo’s song and claim-to fame ‘Evergreen’, is so sad yet so good. Plus, he’s the opening act for our actual all-time favorite SZA’s upcoming tour, so if he has SZA’s seal of approval, he has ours too.
Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
What we want: ‘My Universe’ Coldplay & BTS
What we think: ‘My Universe’ Coldplay & BTS
Doesn’t it feel like BTS wins everything? Or is that just us… Anyway, we wouldn’t consider ourselves part of the A.R.M.Y., but it was definitely a shock when we heard BTS announce that they were going on a hiatus due to mandatory military service until 2025. We’d like to think that getting a Grammy for ‘My Universe’ is a great send-off for the boy band. Between BTS’s superfans and Coldplay’s 2023 world tour, we think the groups have come together to make the perfect combo to win themselves a Grammy.
Best Country Song
What we want: ‘I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’
What we think: No idea
We are not big country music girls, so we weren’t even going to include the country music nominees, that can wait until the CMA’s. However, when we saw Taylor Swift was nominated for ‘I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’, we changed our minds. Our country music knowledge is definitely lacking, so we honestly have no idea who will actually win, but we are rooting for Taylor Swift obviously.
Best Melodic Rap Performance
What we want: ‘Die Hard’
What we think: ‘First Class’
‘First Class’ by Jack Harlow was immediately number one on the billboard top 100 following its release. The song was everywhere from TikTok to the radio, and Jack Harlow surprisingly hasn’t won any Grammy awards yet, so we think it’s about time. We don’t see ‘Die Hard’ by Kendrick Lamar actually winning (based on literally nothing but a gut feeling), but it is our personal favorite in this category.
Whether you agree or disagree with us, we hope you enjoyed our amateur predictions. Stay tuned for our next article giving our opinions on everything Grammys.
