Astronomy Club

On May 18, the Astronomy Club hosted a movie night for students in room B105 around 2:45. According to John Hughes, advisor of the Astronomy Club, students watched Avatar 2 and were provided with snacks like chips and seltzer water. Hughes said that even though “a few people had to leave at different times,” the “core group really enjoyed being together.” The club plans to do more movie nights in the future, possibly hosting another next week. On top of that, the club is having observation nights approaching.

Marching Band

The marching band had their Open House on May 16 at 4 pm in the NVOT band room. The Open House invites all those interested in marching band like wind and percussion players and those curious about color guard.

Art Department

On Tuesday, May 16, the Art Department held a nighttime gala to mark the opening of its annual Fine Arts Festival. The show featured artwork from various art classes across NVOT.

SOPE

The SOPE club is currently updating the garden in the school courtyard and in the next few days will be receiving and planting new plants and trees. The club’s recycling program has been coming to an end with bins being collected and cleaned throughout the school. According to club advisor Steve Ahad, a recent town council meeting resulted in a vote that overturned the planning board’s decision to approve the development at 244 Old Tappan Road, protecting the marsh lands there and preserving the environment there, an effort that SOPE has been undertaking since last year.
