Boys Soccer
The boys improved their winning streak to four games after a shutout win versus Demarest and a 2-1 win versus Ramapo on Thursday. Seniors Kevin Contreras and Tsubasa Tomono and junior Tommy Ramos scored goals this week. Senior Winston Kim had two assists on Thursday, while Michael Buckley recorded an assist in Tuesday’s 1-0 win.
Cross Country
On Thursday, cross country had a race at Darlington County Park. The girls placed first overall with freshmen Emme Fermin and Maiumi Quiros placing second and third respectively. The boys placed forth with sophomore Benjamin Johnson placing sixth.
Field Hockey
NVOT Field Hockey had 3 away games this week against Demarest, Dwight Englewood, and River Dell. After 4 losses last week, they came back with 3 wins this week. Captain Zoe Clarke scored a goal in the game against Dwight. Juniors Annabelle Lee and Mia Ferraro helped their team with 5 goals from Annie and 2 goals from Mia.
Football
The boys improved to 5-0 after another blowout victory, this time versus River Dell. Junior Nick Rossi led the team in rushing with three touchdowns on top of Michael Miceli’s receiving touchdown, and Alex Orrechio’s rushing touchdown. Defensively, senior Evan Brooks recorded two interceptions in the game.
Girls Soccer
On Tuesday, the girls defeated Demarest 4-0. Senior Julia Reilly scored two goals as well as junior Sienna Drullinsky. Then, on Thursday in Ramapo, the girl suffered their only loss of the week 4-0. However, in the play-in round of the Bergen County tournament, the girls defeated North Arlington 2-0 on Saturday. Senior Olivia Connell and sophomore Taylor Chisholm recorded the teams two goals.
Girls Tennis
In the county tournament on Sunday, October 1, Chloe Macaluso, Jahnavi Vaghasia, Lili Setrakian, Ashley Kim, Sierra Lumia, and Cat Guerra all advanced to the second round of the tournament. In the second round, no players from Old Tappan advanced.
Volleyball
Old Tappan Varsity Volleyball pulled through with another two wins this week against Demarest and Northern Highlands. On Tuesday versus Demarest, Maya Giordano had 17 kills, and Eva Curko had 41 assists and ended the game 2-1. On Thursday, Old Tappan won against Northern Highlands with a final score of 2-0. After two matches, Giordano had 12 kills and Curko had 27 assists.
