Thanksgiving is one of the most anticipated holidays of the year, but with it comes many questions. The leading one being “What do I wear?” We took the top three categories and broke down easy to put together outfits.
Formal
If your family is the type of family that likes to dress formally for Thanksgiving and you never know what to wear, look no further. Dressing formally is less intimidating as it sounds. Ladies can never go wrong with a little black dress and some boots. Throwing a sweater or a blazer over it will elevate the look and tie it all together. For men, it’s just as simple. Just put on your favorite pair of dress pants, bonus points if they’re stretchy. Add a fun dress shirt on top, and if you are really feeling it, add on a tie to add even more formality. The finishing touch is dress shoes.
Casual
This is probably the most popular dress code, but with that comes a cornucopia of outfit options. Jeans and a sweater are a classic choice—a pairing as reliable as turkey and gravy. To complete the look, throw on your favorite pair of sneakers or even a dress shoe if you are feeling extra festive. Though skirts often come off as dressy, they can still have a seat at the Thanksgiving table. Pairing a skirt with a sweater or even a long sleeve t-shirt can make it look a lot more casual. Adding black tights or leggings can keep you extra warm on a cold November evening. Men are obviously included in the jeans and sweater attire, or they can throw on a flannel to stay warm and still look presentable.
Pajamas
Staying comfortable, especially when you’re getting stuffed is always a good idea. So just throw on your favorite pajama set or your favorite sweat suit. Shimmie on your favorite fuzzy socks and slippers. There is nothing like staying comfy in your jammies while eating your favorite comfort food.
Never told what to wear
Now, this situation is more common than not. Many Thanksgiving invitations are very vague, but don’t let that stop you from feeling your best. Whether you want to dress to the nines or roll up in sweats, the choice is yours. Whatever you feel comfortable in is always a good option, that can be a dress or sweatpants! And here’s a pro tip: don’t forget to wear something stretchy, so you can be stuffed in style.
There is so much to be grateful for this holiday season: family, food, health, and especially clothes. Hopefully this was helpful, and let’s make this the most stylish Thanksgiving yet!
