Winter Sports Teams Kickoff their Seasons: Girls Basketball Wins First Three and Swimming Looks to Build off First Win

Boys Basketball: The boys dropped their first two games to state powerhouse’s St. Joe’s Thursday by a score of 69-38 and Ramapo Saturday 75-33. Junior Dylan Drullinsky led the team with 13 points. 

Boys Bowling: The boys started off the season 2-0 with a 7-0 win over Tenafly on Monday, December 11th, and 5-2 over Pascack Valley on Wednesday. In Monday’s win, senior Jared Yumul led the team with an average score of 219 while senior Travis Kennedy averaged score of 217. On Wednesday, senior Ryan Jensen led the team with an average score of 223. 

Swimming: The Old Tappan swim team won against Wayne on December 7 to kick off their season. The girls won 89-81 and the boys won 104-66. The next meet is on December 19 away against Pascack Valley.

Girls Basketball: The girls basketball team started off their season with a 3-0 record beating Holy Angels, Ramapo, and Paramus Catholic. At the Brick City Showcase, the Knights beat Paramus Catholic 52-51. They hope to continue their streak this week on Tuesday, December 19, away at Wayne Valley and at home against Ridgewood on December 21.

Girls Bowling: The team began the season with a 7-0 win over Tenafly on Monday, December 11th. Senior Hyerim Seo led the team with an average score of 109, and senior Ashley Park had an average score of 108. The girls lost to Pascack Valley 4-3 on Wednesday despite senior Ashley Park averaging a score of 123.

Ice Hockey: ​​The Northern Valley Hockey team starts their record 1-1 with a 4-2 win over Paramus Catholic and a 6-5 loss in overtime against Clifton. Against Clifton Sam Vilkin scored two goals, William Park with one goal, Tyler Gaspin with one goal, and Oliver Berenbroick with one goal. They will verse Ridgewood on December 20 at home.

Indoor Track: Friday the 15th was the first meet for Winter Track. Senior Goran Saric finished second in the boys 400M, junior Jamie Kim placed fifth in girls pole vault, the Knights finished sixth in the boys 4x800M relay, and 13th in the girls 4x800M relay finished sixth, 

Wrestling: While the regular season hasn’t begun, individuals on the team competed in the Beast of the East tournament in Delaware over the weekend.
