Senior year already? The time goes by way too quickly. It feels as if we just got to this school. It’s hard to believe we’re graduating. Yes, senior year is going to be a handful. From submitting college applications to deciding on your future school, there is a lot going on. But don’t worry, we got you covered on our senior year school traditions.
Decorating your cars:
There’s no greater feeling of excitement than being with your closest friends, decorating everyone’s cars with tons of chalk markers before the “last-first day.” Typically, seniors decorate cars the day before, then pull up to the parking lot the morning of the first day, decked out to take pictures with each other. It’s so much fun being able to doodle all over your car, and drive around like you own the roads. It’s the perfect way to start senior year. This is one of the more, “well known” traditions, and our personal favorite.
Kid backpacks:
Seniors take a break from stress and chaos, whether it’s college applications or drama with friends, and revert back to childhood. These backpacks are aimed to be for children, but in recent years, you’re more likely to see a senior buying a bright-colored princess backpack instead of a kindergartener. This tradition is adorable, but in all honesty a little costly. Seniors have to spend at least 20 dollars to buy a backpack they’ll only use for a week. It’s fun, but a little impractical.
Senior Switch:
Senior Switch gives the seniors an opportunity to dress up and impersonate their favorite teacher and instruct their classes. These students go all out dressing from head to toe looking exactly like their chosen person. This day is easygoing as the seniors fill the day with fun games such as Kahoot and Quizizz and teach simple lessons to the classes. It’s a great break for both the seniors and teachers.
Senior Skip Day:
Senior Skip Day is an exciting day that seniors look forward to towards the end of the school year. It is pretty self explanatory. One day out of the whole school year, seniors that choose to, don’t come to school for that day. The school knows about this tradition. Seniors usually make plans with friends to hang out and do something that’s outside of school. Since the day is towards the end of the year, they can go somewhere exciting where there is nice weather, like the beach.
Senior Assassin:
Some consider this tradition one of the biggest events during senior year. Senior Assassin runs from the first week of May to usually the last week of June. The end goal: Don’t get sprayed with water by opposing players and win the cash prize. Students team up in pairs and cultivate a plan to victory. Assuming that both or one of the partners are still in and they eliminate at least one of their targets, each week they are given a new team to go after. Don’t forget about those sneaky revive items! Get ready seniors, it’s going to be intense!
Enjoy the full experience before it’s all gone in the blink of an eye. Have fun, live a little! Senior year is going to be great.
