The movies listed below are an excellent combination of laughter, romance, and feel-good moments. There are plenty of great rom-coms out there, but The Lance is introducing you to some of the best to watch for Valentine’s. Get ready for a movie marathon that’s all about love.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days:
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is a very popular rom-com filled with funny moments and strong chemistry between the two characters. Andie is on a mission to push Ben away in just ten days as part of a story for her magazine article. On the other hand, Ben has a different agenda and is determined to make Andie fall in love with him in ten days for his job proposition. Unexpected feelings with one another forms and these two characters fall madly in love with one another.
Lili: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is a great movie to watch for Valentine’s Day. The movie is very wholesome and the turn of events adds much to the plot. The exaggerated ways Andie tries to drive Ben crazy, like making a photo album of them in the future with kids to getting a cat, we both agree are ridiculous, funny, and bound to make you laugh this Valentine’s Day.
The Notebook:
The Notebook tells a love story of the power of destiny and fate. Noah and Allie fall madly in love with each other just as teenagers. However, the two get separated and move on from each other before eventually reconnecting and falling in love all over again. The Notebook is an iconic romance story that’s not quite a comedy per se, but it’s definitely a must-see for Valentine’s Day. Lili: With the movie taking place in the 1940s-1950s, their traditional views of love and relationships are quite different compared to ours. For starters, there was no social media, making The Notebook have a nostalgic aesthetic with vintage clothing and classic cars. This movie shows how love can endure, despite the challenges and hardships that life throws our way, as seen in Noah and Allie’s relationship. Just make sure to have a box of tissues nearby–it’s an emotional rollercoaster!
13 Going on 30:
A 13-year-old girl in junior high wakes up trapped as a 30-year-old, living in 2004 as a fashion editor. Because of the challenges during Jenna Rink’s teenage years, on her thirteenth birthday, she wishes to be 30, popular, and successful, which magically comes true. 13 Going on 30 is hilarious because Jenna has trouble trying to act like an adult, all while still having the mindset and immaturity of a 13-year-old.
Lili: Being the same age as Jenna, it was so funny to see her awkward and funny moments trying to act like a grown up. Overall, 13 Going on 30 is an awesome movie to watch on Valentine’s Day. I like how it’s more of an older movie and Jennifer Garner plays incredible as Jenna. Lili loves fashion and aspires to have outfits like Jenna’s when she turns 30. The dance Jenna and her best friend did in the movie was so iconic. It made us want to get out of our seats and dance along!
Anyone But You:
The rom-com about Bea and Ben, two people who absolutely can’t stand each other at first, coincidentally end up at their sister and friends wedding. Forced to spend time together, they start seeing each other in a new light. The movie is really funny and full of surprises! This movie is a great movie to watch for Valentine’s Day because it’s light-hearted and will get you dying from laughter.
Nicoletta: This was my favorite because I loved the actors and the plot, especially when the spider was in Ben’s pants in the middle of the woods, which caused quite the commotion. This one was definitely one of the best, most recent romance movies that came out. After watching this movie, “Unwritten” is honestly my favorite song. It’s super catchy and I thought it was so entertaining when Bea and Ben were singing. I remember listening to this song in the car as a young kid. 5/5!
The Proposal:
Margaret, a high-powered editor from Canada, forces her assistant, Andrew, to marry her to avoid being deported. The two can’t stand each other at first, but when they head to Andrew’s hometown in Alaska to make the marriage look real, things get complicated.
Nicoletta: This movie is a classic enemies-to-lovers story with lots of laughs and heartwarming moments. It’s a perfect choice for a cozy movie night or a good pick-me-up in case you’re in need of some romance and laughter. I really recommend this movie to all of my friends and I think Ryan Renolds was perfect for the part.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding:
Toula, a shy, 30-something Greek woman, falls in love with Ian, a non-Greek guy and chaos ensues. While their relationship blossoms, Toula’s very traditional, over-the-top Greek family is not exactly on board with her marrying outside the culture. The movie shows changes and sacrifices the couple makes as they get to know each other.
Nicoletta: This movie teaches the viewer about Greek culture and traditions, a movie quality that is important to me. There’s many funny moments between Toula’s Greek family and Ian’s different, more casual family making this film a perfect laugh-out-loud night in. If you have nothing to do on Valentine’s Day, watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding!

Whether you’re looking for lighthearted laughs, a deep and passionate romance, or a story about finding love in unexpected places, these films have it all.
