Girls Basketball:
On Monday the girls had an away game against Bergenfield and won 61-27. Junior Sienna Drullinsky scored 13 points and senior Mia Badurina scored 12 points. On Thursday the girls had an away game against River Dell and won 63-61. Freshman Alexa Caunedo scored 23 points, and junior Mia Derrico scored 15 points. On Saturday the girls had a home game against Glen Rock and won 56-41. Drullinsky scored 24 points.
Boys Basketball:
On February 18 the boys had an away game against Pascack Valley and lost 62-40. Senior Dylan Drullinsky scored 19 points. On the 22nd the boys had a home game against River Dell and lost 49-46. Drullinsky scored 18 points. On Saturday the boys had a home game against Rutherford and won 39-29. Drullinsky scored 13 points.
Track:
On Saturday the group qualifiers competed in the NJSIAA Group 2 & 3 Championships. On the girl’s side, senior Sophia Katechis placed 5th in the 3200 Meter Run, breaking the school record. Senior Jamie Kim placed second in Pole Vault, senior Salome Sanchez placed fourth in Pole Vault, sophomore Caroline Ognibene placed 5th in Pole Vault, and sophomore Gianna DeMarco placed 9th in Shot Put. On the boys’ side, junior Brendan McNamara placed 8th in the 800 Meter Run, junior Benjamin Johnson placed 9th in both the 1600 Meter Run and 3200 Meter Run, and sophomore Shane Small placed 9th in Shot Put.
Wrestling:
Old Tappan wrestled in the District Tournament at Pascack Valley High School. Senior Jack Drucker was awarded first place in the 138-pound bracket and freshman Matthew Morrissey was awarded second in the 215-pound bracket. Both of them will advance to the Regional Tournament. Coach Robert Ortiz was awarded the District 2 wrestling coach of the year.
