Football:
On Saturday September 13, The football team defeated the Bergenfield Bears 41-14 to advance to 3-0 on the season thus far. Junior Quarterback Zach Miceli completed 9 of 10 passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Junior Shane Small caught 3 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown, while Leo Etter also caught 3 passes and a touchdown. The Knights will face Ramapo this Friday in a highly anticipated matchup between two North Jersey public school powers.
Boys Soccer:
The soccer team had two games this week. On Monday, September 8th, the Knights faced off against Indian Hills and defeated them 1-0. The lone goal was scored by senior Daniel Park, while goalie AJ Aiello recorded 9 saves. Then, on Thursday September 11th, The Knights faced off against Ridgewood and lost 1-0. The team will be away against Pascack Valley on September 15th at 6:30 PM.
Girls Soccer:
The girls soccer team also faced off against Indian Hills and defeated them 8-0. Sophomore Elena Pothos scored 3 goals and assisted on another. Junior Caroline Ognibene scored two goals while Mia Derrico, Sienna Drulinsky, and Leah Ramos also got in on the scoring. Additionally, on Thursday September 11th, the team defeated Ridgewood 4-3 in an overtime thriller. Elena Pothos began the scoring to take a 1-0 lead. Ridgewood responded with two goals of their own to take a 2-1 lead, before Pothos responded with another goal to tie up the contest. Senior Taylor Chisholm scored a goal to take a 3-2 lead before Ridgewood tied up the game 3-3 to send the game to overtime. Caroline Ognibene scored the game-winning goal in overtime to win the game for the Knights.
Field Hockey:
On September 9th, Field Hockey lost to Ramsey. They also had their home opener on September 12th against Passaic Valley where they won 2-1. Juniors Emma Ellison and Olivia Magnoli both contributed to the win. The team has 2 home games coming up against Wayne Valley on September 16th, and Immaculate Heart Academy on September 18th.
Volleyball:
Volleyball won all 3 of their games this week, bringing their record to 4-0. The girls played Ridgewood on Monday, September 8th where they won 2-0. They also beat Bergenfield the next day and Pascack Valley on Friday, September 12th. At the Pascack Valley game, senior Julia Whaley led the team in kills with 11, followed by senior Gaby Paltag with 5. The girls look to continue their winning record with games against Tenafly at home on September 15th, and Northern Highlands on the 17th away.
Cross Country:
Cross Country had their second meet of the season, the “Back to the Mountain Invitational” on September 16th at the Garret Mountain Reservation. The girls’ varsity, JV, and freshman teams all placed first. Junior Emme Fermin placed second with a time of 20:37. The boys placed 2nd across all 3 teams, and senior Ben Johnson was the meet’s runner-up. He finished with a time of 16:47. Their next meet is the Big North National Batch meet on September 24th.
Tennis:
The girls tennis team had 3 matches this week. On September 8th, they played against Pascack Valley where they lost 4-1. On Thursday, the 11th they beat Pascack Hills, 3-2. They also won against Bergenfield 4-1 on September 12th. Seniors Hyacinth Seo and Evelynne Leong won their matches along with junior Jia Kim.
