Keeping It Real with Fantasy-Week 3
Helping NVOT with their fantasy football problems
Le’Veon Bell not playing? Injuries hurting your dream team? Not sure on who to pick up off the waiver wire? The Lance is here to help you with all of your fantasy football problems, to give you tips to thrive in your league and to help you be crowned Fantasy Football Champion at the end of the season.
INJURIES/NEWS:
Joe Mixon suffered a knee injury last Thursday and came in and out of the game a few times. Mixon had surgery on Saturday and could return as soon as Week Four. Sony Michel had the same injury this preseason and missed several weeks so if you are the Mixon owner be prepared to possibly be without him for a few weeks. Giovanni Bernard will take over the starting role in Mixon’s absence.
LeSean McCoy has cracked ribs after his own offensive lineman fell on him during the loss against the Chargers. McCoy left the game after the injury and may miss a couple weeks because of it.
Josh Gordon was traded to the Patriots after a crazy turn of events when the Browns first said they released him and then on Monday traded him for a fifth-round pick. The Patriots also received a seventh-round pick in the trade. Gordon may become Brady’s second option very soon.

DEEP WAIVER TARGETS WEEK 3:
Ryan Fitzpatrick: If you told us Ryan Fitzpatrick was going to be a top two quarterback this year and throw for eight touchdowns in his first two games filling in for Winston, we would’ve laughed in your face. But…here we are. “Fitzmagic” has taken two of the top 10 defenses coming into the season and has been stellar in back-to-back offensive shootouts. Throwing for over 400 yards in his first two games, the 35-year-old veteran looks to stay hot in his matchup against a struggling Steelers’ defense and should be among the top waiver QBs to pick up if he isn’t picked up in your league already.
Will Dissly: Will Dissly has had two very solid weeks as he looks to be one of Russell Wilson’s favorite targets with Doug Baldwin out till Week 6. Dissly has caught six passes the past two weeks, but two of them went for touchdowns and he tends to gain big yardage having a long of 66 yards Week 1 and a long of 34 yards for Week 2. Dissly looks to continue to be a big target for Wilson as Seattle goes take on Dallas at home in Week 3.
Phillip Lindsay: Royce Freeman seemed to be the sure-starter for the Broncos in Week 1, but running backs Devontae Booker and Phillip Lindsay were given work in the backfield as well. Phillip Lindsay played a major role in the Broncos’ win in Week 1 as he played 25 snaps, a very close second to Freeman’s 29 snaps. The rookie matched Freeman on 71 yards on 15 rushes in Week 1 and then out-rushed Freeman in Week 2 with 107 yards on the ground. Although Freeman is still considered the starter, Lindsay looks to have a significant role in the Broncos’ backfield and is a great deep waiver target.
Chris Godwin: Fitzmagic couldn’t pull off all of his tricks alone as he had help from Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson, and second-year man Chris Godwin in the passing game. Godwin helped the Buccaneers in their offensive shootout against the Saints with 3 catches for 41 yards and touchdown. Although Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson had most of the spotlight, Godwin has caught his fair share of touchdowns in both games against the Saints and the Eagles and looks to be a great waiver target for the upcoming Week 3.

Start/Sit- We are here to help you to decide who to start and who to sit. Obviously, top-tier players like Rob Gronkowski and Antonio Brown are weekly starts. This is for those lesser tier players.
QBs
Start- Kirk Cousins and Ryan Fitzpatrick
Both players are coming off of great weeks and play beatable defenses at home. The Steelers just gave up 6 touchdowns to Patrick Mahomes and the Bills made Joe Flacco look elite Week one and Philip Rivers had a good Week 2 performance against them.
Sit- Philip Rivers and Marcus Mariota
Rivers faces the Los Angeles Rams and Mariota faces the Jacksonville Jaguars. Both are top-tier defenses and we would try to avoid playing your QBs against them this week. Mariota is also dealing with a nerve issue in his elbow and did not play last week because he could not properly grip the football.
RBs
Start- Kenyan Drake and Jordan Howard
Drake is coming off of a good week against the Jets and has a good matchup against the Raiders who have especially struggled since trading away Khalil Mack. Howard struggled in the Bears win against the Seahawks last week but we think he can have a bounce-back week. The Bears are facing the Cardinals this week and should get out to an early lead considering how bad the Cardinals offense has been. This should lead to the Bears wanting to lean on Howard and the running game for most of the game.
Sit- Jamaal Williams and Derrick Henry
Aaron Jones returns for the Packers this week meaning Williams will have to split carries with Jones and Ty Montgomery. Henry has already had to split time with Dion Lewis and neither of them has played well so far. The Titans are also going up against the Jaguars so for the same reasons we are not playing Mariota, you should not play Henry.
WRs-
Start- DeSean Jackson and Quincy Enunwa
For our starts, this week with wide receivers that have been hot for the first two weeks Jackson has been doing great with Fitzmagic and Enunwa has been rookie Sam Darnold’s favorite target. They both have plus matchups against the Browns and Steelers and we think they will both continue their success this week.
Sit – Keenan Allen and Allen Robinson
Robinson goes up against Patrick Peterson and Allen goes up against Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib this week. Both are good receivers and have started off well but both should struggle against these top cornerbacks. You may not have other options to play due to these players high draft costs so if you are playing them consider looking for a high upside guy to put in your flex.
TEs
Start- Virgil Green and Trey Burton
The Rams are a great defense but have been susceptible to one thing this season, the tight end. For this reason, we think Virgil Green will have a solid week for anyone in need of a tight end and while he does not have the upside of a Rob Gronkowski or a Travis Kelce, we think he has a high floor for Week three. Trey Burton had a good Week two after a poor Week one and we think against a struggling Cardinals team he can continue that success.
Sit- Tyler Eifert and Eric Ebron
Eric Ebron has played well the first two weeks and has been added in many fantasy leagues but you should sit him because the Eagles are a very good defense and Ebron has only played on 38 percent of the Colts offensive snaps this season. Eifert has received only seven targets in Weeks one and two and with AJ Green playing so well do not expect that number to increase this week.
