Early decision and early action application deadlines for seniors were due Thursday evening, November 1, at 11:59 p.m. For many, it was a stressful day–trying to complete and submit applications while impatiently waiting for the internet to load. For others who had already submitted their applications, it was a stress-free day (although they may have surrounded by classmates frantically banging on their computers). Here are just a few voices of seniors who submitted early decision and early action applications to colleges.

  • Emily Walker: “It was stressful, especially when leaving it to the last minute for early decision or action. It’s important to do your research and to be good friends with your guidance counselor because they know what they’re talking about.”

  • Nick DiPalo: “College apps were very stressful in not only beating deadlines but making sure that all information was correct and supplements were written properly. After early applications, I am very relieved to be familiar with the process.”

  • Minhee Han: “I felt relieved, but at the same time, it is not like my life became carefree immediately. I realized that there are still many responsibilities being in my senior year, and I need to keep pushing through. Overall, I am just waiting and excited for the future.”

  • Lexi Arnold: “I felt a sense of relief and anxiety as I sent out my applications. Relief because I was done with the dreadful and stressful process of college applications, but anxiety because I like to be in control of my fate and once you hit that button, everything is out of your control.”

  • Brian Walker: “It feels amazing to have finally submitted my early applications. It was hard to get through and it would have been easier if I had started earlier, but I’ve never been so relieved.”

  • Zion Lee: “Submitting the early applications was an emotional rollercoaster. While I was hit with a wave of relief, the thought of starting a new chapter of my life at a new school was daunting. But now that the application is out of my hands, I know wherever I end up I will do my best.”

  • Ellie Drillich: “For me, the college application process felt very long and stressful because coming up with essay topics can be more challenging than you would think. Once I was done though, I felt so much relief and a big sense of accomplishment.”

  • Doris Vazacopoulos: “Submitting my early applications was the biggest relief. Now everything is completely out of my hands.”
