Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! We are ready for Turkey Day football with plenty of news and advice on what to do with the fantasy postseason closing in.

News/Injuries-

Alex Smith (Redskins) will miss the rest of the season after fracturing his tibia and fibula in a gruesome injury.

Marcus Mariota (Titans) hurt his elbow in the loss against Indianapolis. An injury to the same elbow caused him to miss time earlier in the season.

Jimmy Graham (Packers) left Sunday’s game early and did not return after breaking his thumb. Head Coach Mike McCarthy said Graham will try to play through the injury but it will be tough for him to see the field if he cannot catch the ball.

O.J Howard (Buccaneers) has been placed on injured reserve with a foot/ankle injury and will miss the rest of the season.

Deep Waiver Wire Targets Week 12-

Josh Rosen: Josh Rosen and the Cardinals lost to the 2-8 Raiders. Looks bad, right? What you may have overlooked was Josh Rosen’s 3-touchdown performance on just 9 completions. The nine completions may look bad, but David Johnson has opened up the offense the past two weeks to the point where the Cardinals can hit big on the pass, hence, the 3-touchdown performance on just 136 yards. Rosen is definitely improving in this offense, and we believe he is worth picking up as he could possibly catch fire before the playoffs.

Gus Edwards: The Ravens’ backfield has been a confusing one this entire year with Javorius Allen and Alex Collins. It didn’t help either when they pulled out their “read-option” option with Lamar Jackson in at QB for injured Joe Flacco. And to top it all off, some guy named Gus Edwards bursts onto the scene. Edwards had a whopping 17 carries for 115 yards and a touchdown, more than double the amount that Collins and Allen got combined. Maybe a fluke, but if Edwards takes the same role in Week 12 that he had in Week 11, he will be a must have off of waivers for the playoffs.

Tre’Quan Smith: Drew Brees and the Saints have been on fire on offense all year long having not scored lower than 24 points in any contest. Their running game is a great complement to their passing game, and alongside star receiver Michael Thomas, there is #2 receiver Tre’Quan Smith who had a huge game on Sunday. The rookie racked up an incredible 10 reception game for 157 yards and a touchdown to go along with it. He has had a game like this before against Washington, and then did not do much else until this past Sunday. However, on a juggernaut offense as the #2 receiver, we think this man must be picked up right now before the playoffs start.

Jordan Reed: Owned in 83% of leagues, this is a name you wouldn’t expect to see in most leagues. After Alex Smith’s leg injury, Reed was nearly droppable with the offensive production until backup quarterback Colt McCoy hit Reed in the endzone and turned some heads. This is Reed’s first touchdown since Week 1 and he also had a season high in yardage with 71 yards. If Reed is still on waivers, we advise you make a move for him before others do.

QB

Start- Nick Mullens (49ers) and Jameis Winston (Buccaneers)

San Francisco and Tampa Bay play each other in a matchup of two of the worst defenses in football. That means we should see a high scoring affair between the two and lots of points for both quarterbacks.

Sit- Matthew Stafford (Lions) and Derek Carr (Raiders)

Stafford faces the Bears who have shut down quarterbacks week after week. With many of Detroit’s weapons questionable for Thanksgiving we would advise sitting Stafford. Carr faces the Ravens defense who has played very well this season. He also is facing the same issues as Stafford as all of his weapons have been traded or injured.

RB

Start- Josh Adams (Eagles) and Nick Chubb (Browns)

Adams has not broken out yet, but we think his opportunity is now. He has been doing much better than the other running backs in Philadelphia and finally was rewarded with the majority of the workload last week. The only problem was that it was a blowout and Philadelphia had to throw the ball a lot. Facing the Giants should be a much better game script for Adams. Chubb has played very well in recent weeks and facing Cincinnati is a great opportunity for Chubb to continue his success.

Sit- Adrian Peterson (Redskins) and LeSean McCoy (Bills)

Alex Smith will miss the rest of the season meaning Colt McCoy will be the starting quarterback. Dallas is going to stack the box and force Colt McCoy to beat them. This means Peterson should have few rushing lanes. LeSean McCoy faces the Jaguars who seemed to have figured it out on defense. Another running back with a poor quarterback means limited running lanes for him as well.

WR

Start- D.J. Moore (Panthers) and Kenny Golladay (Lions)

Two players who have great opportunities this week. Moore had a great week last week, and his production should continue. Golladay is facing Chicago in a difficult matchup. He is very talented and is the only target left for the Lions. Even though the team should struggle, Golladay should feast on turkey day.

Sit- Larry Fitzgerald (Cardinals) and Devin Funchess (Panthers)

Fitzgerald caught two touchdowns last week. Those were his only two catches on the game though. Rosen has not been relying on the hall of fame wide receiver and in a tough matchup against the Chargers, we expect Fitzgerald to struggle with the whole offense this week. Funchess has lost his spot as the number one receiver to rookie D.J. Moore. Funchess still is getting targets, but he just is not producing because he is not very good.

TE

Start- Cameron Brate (Buccaneers) and Jeff Heuerman (Broncos)

With O.J. Howard out for season and Winston back at quarterback, Brate is primed for a great week. Brate has been Winston’s favorite target for years, and his only problem recently was getting on the field over the young Howard, but that is not a problem anymore. Heuerman is one of the few tight ends who is not touchdown dependent. While he does not have the high upside, you may want him as a solid floor in PPR leagues.

Sit- Ben Watson (Saints) and Antonio Gates (Chargers)

Watson is tempting to play because he is on the high powered Saints offense, but he has just not been a part of their attack. He only getting caught one pass last week in the dismantling of the Eagles. Gates had a vintage week and finished as the number four tight end. He will have a tough time replicating that performance at his age and he is not worth chasing the points for.
