Phys. ed. students get ready to plan their dance unit.

Juniors and seniors: get ready to move your feet in physical education class. The dance unit is approaching.

This unit is a creative movement unit where students create their own groups and put together dance presentations that are two to three minutes long. Students can choose their own music and choreograph their own dance moves. They can also utilize whatever props they want in their dance to personalize it. After preparing, students will present their dance to their class. According to Mr. Craig Ferraro, physical education teacher, “It’s kind of like a little dance competition.”

The dance unit is graded using a rubric, which grades students on attendance, preparedness, and effort.

“It’s a different aspect of physical education, not just the standard volleyball and basketball. It gives other kids a chance,” said Ferraro.
