Sports recap for October 18-24
Monday, October 18
The volleyball team won its game against Bergenfield 2-0 at home. Captain Jola Olutiola had 11 kills, while junior Emma Gobo had 20 assists and five digs.
The field hockey team won its game against River Dell 2-1. Captain Nina Stonitsch and junior Melissa Brennan each had a goal while sophomore Alexa Padilla had an assist. Goalkeeper Shay McGee had four saves.
Tuesday, October 19
The boys soccer team won its game against Pascack Valley 2-1. Captain Leo Kim had a goal and an assist, captain Max Caunedo had a goal, and junior Andrew Demcsik had an assist. Goalkeeper Evan Chrenko had three saves.
The girls soccer team tied its game against Pascack Valley 0-0 in double overtime. Goalkeeper Mackenzie Ward had 14 saves.
Wednesday, October 20
The field hockey team won its game against Hackensack 7-0 at home. Stonistch led the scoring with three goals while senior Yuna Jung, senior Jinsil Yearm, and Brennan each contributed with a goal. Senior Meilin Sharma had a goal and an assist and senior Ellie Wiesner and captain Allie Callahan both had two assists.
The volleyball team lost its game against Immaculate Heart Academy 2-0 at home. Olutiola had nine kills and 16 digs. Sophomore Grayson Housley had nine digs and Gobo had 13 assists.
Thursday, October 21
The boys soccer team won its game against Bergenfield 1-0 to clinch the league title. Caunedo had the lone goal, assisted by Kim. Chrenko had six saves.
The girls soccer team won its game against Bergenfield 4-1 at home to win the league title. Junior Natalie Carril had two goals while senior Brooke Farrington and junior Jessica Jung each had a goal. Captains Emily Clune and Julianna Morrissey each had an assist. Ward had eight saves.
Friday, October 22
The football team won its senior night game against Passaic County Technical Institute 34-7 at home.
The volleyball team lost its quarter final county game against Demarest 2-0. Olutiola had nine kills and Housley had nine digs. Gobo had 18 assists.
Saturday, October 23
The girls cross country team won the county title at Darlington. The team ran an average time of 19:54.6, winning by over 42 points.
