Sports recap for February 7-February 13
Monday, February 7
The wrestling team won its NJSIAA tournament quarterfinal match against Pascack Valley 43-26. Freshman Nicholas Rossi, senior Matthew Olivo, and senior Declan Jaeger won their matches with a pin. Senior Liam Fowley, senior Nathan Kim, freshman Daniel Olivo, and senior Andrew Digia won their matches with a decision. Freshman Justin Morrissey won his match through forfeit and freshman Jonathon Rotolo won his match with a technical fall.
The wrestling team lost its NJSIAA tournament semifinal match 34-31 against Morris Hills. Junior Sam Bodnar, Fowley, and senior Jake Smith won their matches with a pin. Freshman Nicholas Rotolo, Jaeger, Rotolo, and Olivo won with a decision.
Tuesday, February 8
The boys basketball team lost its game against Pascack Valley 81-73. Senior Frankie D’Ercole had 27 points and junior Aidan Heaney had 22 points.
The girls basketball team won its game against Pascack Valley 43-40. Junior Mackenzie Ward had 15 points and junior Melissa Brennan had 14 points.
Thursday, February 10
The boys basketball team lost its game against Teaneck 66-39. D’Ercole had 18 points and Heaney had 12 points.
The girls basketball team won its game against Teaneck 38-30. Sophomore Maya Giordano had 10 points and sophomore Layla Giordano had 8 points.
Friday, February 11
The girls swimming team lost its NJSIAA Tournament match against Ramsey 88-62.
The wrestling team won its match against Demarest 47-27. Digia, Jaeger, Fowley, Rossi, and Olivo won their matches with a pin. Olivo, Kim, and Rotolo won their matches with a decision. Smith won through forfeit.
Saturday, February 12
The wrestling team won its match against West Milford 60-18. Senior Luke Guendy, sophomore Ryan O’Neil, Olivo, Morrissey, Jaeger, Rotolo, Fowley, Olivo, Kim, and Smith all won their matches with pins.
The wrestling team won its match against Waldwick 63-12. Junior Tyler Degnen and Olivo won with pins. Bodnar, Jaeger, and Smith won through a decision. Morrissey, Digia, Fowley, Rossi, O’Neil, Rotolo, and Olivo all won through forfeit.
The wrestling team won its match against Cresskill 60-13. Morrissey, Jaeger, Rotolo, Rossi, Olivo, Kim, and Rotolo won their matches with a pin. Olivo, Fowley, and Smith all won with a forfeit.
The girls basketball team lost its county game against Immaculate Heart 43-33. Ward had 9 points and L. Giordano had 8 points.
The ice hockey team lost its game against Lakeland 9-1. Anthony White had a goal and Goalkeeper Gianluca Palazzolo had 19 saves.
