If you’re anything like me, I go into holiday mode the second it becomes November—I crawl into bed as soon as the sun goes down and my mind goes foggy. I also start panicking at the thought of what to get my friends and family. Now that we’re not tiny children who have lists of toys we want for Christmas, the ideas dwindle as the price shoots up. Brr baskets, the reinvented Christmas stocking, have gone viral on social media and are a highly sought-after gift this holiday season. The question is, though, what do people want in their brr baskets? That’s what I’m here for—here is the ultimate guide to what people want in their holiday brr baskets this year.
Fuzzy slippers/socks
What better way to keep your feet nice and cozy than slipping on a pair of fuzzy slippers or socks? Not only are they highly functional, but they’re also adorable! Every Pinterest fanatic knows that a nonnegotiable during the holiday season is a cute pair of fuzzy anything that will be glued to your feet the second you get home. I personally recommend the smiley face slippers with the fur inside—I’ve never slept with cold feet since I got them, and even my mom steals them all the time.
Makeup/Skin Care
Imagine: It’s 8 pm on a Tuesday night, it’s 37 degrees outside, and you’re beginning to feel that seasonal depression. What do you do? Self-care, of course! It’s a must that in your brr basket, you include some variation of makeup and skincare products. There is nothing better than taking care of yourself when the weather outside is frightful. Some recommendations include the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, Rare Beauty Liquid Blush, Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream, and the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Toner. Brownie points if you throw in a cute headband to wear while doing your makeup/skincare.
Pajama Set
When you walk into any department store, the first thing you will probably see is the endless selection of holiday-themed pajamas—they’re there for a reason. Whether it be silk, fur or plaid, pick up one of the holiday sets and include it in your basket. If you’re anything like me, I recycle the same couple of pairs of pajama pants and hoodies. I’m too lazy to go out and treat myself to a cute new pair of pajamas, so be the holiday hero and include a snowflake-themed pj set.
Coffee/Hot Chocolate
Let’s be basic for a moment—what screams the holidays more than a festive drink? I think I’ve seen the iconic red Starbucks cup at least 100 times since the drop of the holiday menu, but I’m not complaining. I’ve seen numerous brr baskets include indulgent coffee and hot chocolate mixes, and I think it’s a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Swiss Miss never fails, but if you’re feeling bougie, Max Brenner or No Chewing Allowed is also a great option.
Snacks
You know the saying the fastest way to a person’s heart is through their stomach? No truer words have ever been spoken. One of my favorite things to do when the weather is cold is lay in bed, watch YouTube, and eat my favorite assortment of snacks and candy. Many snack companies also make an effort to try and make their packaging cute because they know the second they slap a bow on something, we’ll buy it. Filling the basket with their favorite treats is the quickest way to become their favorite person during the holidays. I’m also a strong believer that winter calories don’t count, so keep the snacks coming, please.
Brr baskets are a fun, creative way to show your love and appreciation to those close to you. Making and giving this gift will have you wanting to embrace your inner 2013 Tumblr era and take a million photos of the bundle. The holidays are a time of gratefulness and love—I hope this guide helps you find ways to show that to those around you.
