The Latest — Volleyball, Girls Soccer, and Football team Advance through State Playoffs

Boys Soccer 

The team exited in the first round of states after a 2-0 loss in Wayne Valley on Thursday. The team’s season is officially over. 

Volleyball 

After finishing off the regular season with a 2-0 win over Ramsey on Tuesday, the girls volleyball team defeated Elmwood Park in the first round of states on Friday, October 28. Isabella Benasillo and Samantha Kranzler both had 6 kills, while Emma Gobo with 18 assists, and Molly Emr with 3 digs. The girls will play Demarest in the state Quarterfinals on Monday.

Football 

The boys won in the first round of the playoffs at home on Friday, October 28, versus Lincoln. In the 42-8 win, Seniors Aidan Heaney, Jack Diggins, and Tommy Caracciolo led the offensive attack while juniors Evan Brooks and Christian Greaney both recorded an interception on defense. The team takes on Sparta this Friday night at home in the second round of the playoffs. 

Girls Soccer 

The girls started off the playoffs strong with 2-0 state win over Westwood at home on Wednesday, October 26. On Saturday, the girls traveled to Pascack Hills for the second round. At the end of regulation, the game was tied 0-0, leading the game into penalty kicks. Senior Natalie Carril scored, while Taylor Chisholm, Sienna Drulinsky added on, and junior Olivia Connell iced the game with the final penalty kick goal. The girls face Ramsey in the semifinal round on Tuesday. 

Field Hockey 

The team tied Dwight Englewood 1-1 tie on Tuesday in the last regular season game of the season. The team did not qualify for the playoffs and the season is over.

Cross Country

The boys team barely missed qualification for state meets, ending their season. However, individually, Matt Malora qualified for the state group championship this Saturday in Holmdel. The Girls team won their second consecutive sectional championship on Saturday while simultaneously completing the triple crown; winning leagues, counties and sectionals. Kate Meeks broke a 40-year school record with a 3rd place finish, while Kristen Johnson finished 6th individually. The girls will compete for states in Holmdel this Saturday.
