“I enjoy both classes because learning a way of thinking and how to apply those mental skills matter equally, if not more than the content itself. Getting to see kids do awesome things like designing remote-controlled robots of their own design for battles by applying their understanding of hardware and software from college-level physics is always so much fun.”

Class: AP Physics 2, Physics CP, and AI and Interactive Technology Honors

What students can expect from your class: 

• “Students can expect a class where they learn by doing. We spend a lot of time testing ideas and figuring out why something works or why it doesn’t. I want students to get comfortable thinking through problems, trying solutions, and adjusting their approach so they can see how the ideas in physics show up in real life. We celebrate revising our ideas and making mistakes.”

• “I met my wife at Rutgers by sparring with her with bamboo blades at Kendo Club.”

“I love teaching technology because I love the material. I am always making, fixing, thinking up ideas, etc, etc. It is just in my blood. To be able to share those skills with students is great, and to show them that there are so many interesting paths in life is an amazing part of being a teacher.”

Class: “This year I teach Technology [& Engineering]

Foundations, Computer Programming, and AP Computer Science Principles. I have taught Engineering 1, Woodworking, Architecture– pretty much all of the Technology electives.”

What students can expect from your class: 

• “Students can expect learning and practicing new skills, many projects, using their minds to design and solve problems, using their hands to construct, [and] no homework.”

FUN FACTS:

• “Outside of work, I like to stay in shape (exercise). This usually means martial arts and yard work. Besides that, I am always working on projects in my workshop (my old truck!), or exploring electronic music in my home studio.”

Class: AP World History and AP Human Geography

What students can expect from you: 

• “Students can expect to be able to make connections between world regions and across time periods! Whether you’re a student in my AP World or in my AP Human geography class, you’ll gain a great understanding of different cultures, religions, countries, and be able to understand how the world today got to be the way it is. Though both courses are challenging, there are real connections to current events!”

FUN FACTS:

• “If I was not a teacher, I would probably be a travel agent. I love traveling as much as possible and planning trips, not only for myself, but for other people. I plan trips for many of my friends and family. I also love to cook and am always watching cooking shows, so maybe I would have gone to culinary school– who knows!”
