This Week in School — October 24 to 28
Trunk or Treat:
On Wednesday, October 26, the Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) hosted its annual Trunk or Treat. School clubs decorated their booths with Halloween and club-specific decor. Club members handed out treats and played games with the trunk-or-treaters.
E-Sports:
On Wednesday, October 26, the varsity E-Sport team won 2-0 against Manchester Regional High School while the JV team took their first loss against Park Ridge.
Music Department:
On Thursday, October 27, the NVOT Marching Band held its 2022 Fall Showcase at Northern Valley Regional High School in Old Tappan. The Symphonic Band & Wind Ensemble performed Abracadabra by Frank Ticheli, the Concert Choir performed Ngana by Stephen Leek, Esto Les Dígo by Kinlet Lange, and Ride the Chariot arranged by Wm. Henry Smith. The String Ensemble performed Capriol Suire, Mvmt 1 by Peter Warlock, and The Emerald Falcon by Richard Meyer. Theatre II and II Honors classes performed Viewpoints Tableau based on work by Overlie & Bogart.
The Wind Ensemble performed Chasing Sunlight by Cait Nishimura and Vesuvius by Frank Ticheli and the Valley Voices performed Je le Vous dirait by Pierre Certon and Java Jive arranged by Kirby Show. To end they performed a Scene from 12 Angry Jurors.
Varsity Debate:
On Thursday, October 27, the varsity debate team, led by captains Kaitlyn Fung and Derek Liang, competed at their second season tournament at Dumont High School. Liang and Joseph Yoon placed third overall as a team. Students argued whether or not the United States should increase its security cooperation with NATO.
GSA:
On Friday, October 21, club advisor Lydia Greco took two club members to the Bergen County LGBTQ Youth Leadership Summit at Bergen Community College. The activity was held to increase involvement within the club by connecting with other people and resources.
