The Latest — Girls Soccer Wins Sectional Championship While Football Advances to Sectional Championship

Volleyball 

The girls volleyball team began the week with a win on Monday versus Demarest in the quarterfinals. However, with a 2-0 loss to Sparta on Thursday, their season ended in the sectional semifinals. Maya Giordano had 7 kills, Emma Gobo with 16 assists, and Samantha Kranzler totaled 11 digs. 

Football 

The team defeated Sparta 37-14 on Friday night and will now play at home again versus Hillside for the sectional championship on Friday, November 11. Senior Tim Clune had a receiving touchdown, forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in the win. Aidan Heaney had two touchdowns, Evan Brooks, and Tommy Carraciolo also scored touchdowns. 

Girls Soccer 

In the sectional semifinals at Ramsey on Tuesday, November 1st, the girls won in penalty kicks (PKs). Seniors Natalie Carril and Alexa Tripodi both scored goals in PKs while Mackenzie Ward had four saves. On Saturday, the girls won the sectional championship at River Dell in similar fashion. The game ended 0-0 in regulation and the team won it all in penalty kicks. Again, seniors Carril and Tripodi scored goals, while freshman Nina Cauned0 added another one, and Ward had three saves.

Cross Country 

The girls cross country finished 5th place in the group meets at Holmdel. This was the third best finish in program history in state meets. Individually, seniors Kate Meeks and Kristen Johnson both qualified for the Meet of Champions. Johnson is only the second girls cross country runner in Old Tappan history to qualify for the Meet of Champions twice in their career. Senior Matt Malora finished his final run at Holmdel Park as an individual qualifier for the state meet.
