After tying the school record of seven three-pointers in one single game, girls basketball captain Melissa Brennan broke both her personal record and the school’s record during the game against Tenafly on Tuesday, January 3.

Last season, Brennan tied the school record during the team’s game against Mahwah. “It honestly feels pretty cool to know that I have the record since it is one that I didn’t even think I would hold,” the senior said. “It’s nice to know that all the years of training that I’ve put into this sport have paid off considering I’ve played basketball since I was little.”

In her record-breaking game against Tenafly, Brennan scored eight three-pointers, bringing Old Tappan to victory with a final score of 62-52.

Brennan has had nine two-pointers, 28 three-pointers, and five free throws— for a total of 107 points this season and making her the second leading scorer on the team, behind junior Layla Giordano. “I just want to keep playing how I’ve been playing— keep shooting, getting the ball into post, and playing good defense,” said Brennan. “I just got to keep playing my role and contributing to the team.”
