Boys Soccer
On Wednesday, at home, the boys defeated Dover 3-2 in the sectional semifinals. Seniors Sean Park and Michael Buckley scored the first two goals, but Dover scored the tying goal with a minute left in regular time. Senior Kevin Contreras scored the game winner with 10 seconds left in the game. On Saturday, the team faced off with Garfield at home in the section final, where they lost 3-0.
Cross Country
The Cross Country team raced at Sectionals this Saturday, November 4th at Holmdel Park, NJ. The girls placed 9th overall with sophomore Claire Bailey leading the team. The boys placed 19th overall with sophomore Benjamin Johnson being the first NVOT runner to cross the finish line.
Football
The team won the sectional semifinals against Lincoln on Friday night at home. After leading 15-0 at the half, the team put up three touchdowns in the second half and won the game 36-0. Seniors Evan Brooks and Tim Rutigliano both had receiving touchdowns, while junior Nick Rossi had two rushing touchdowns, and sophomore Devyn Radoian added a touchdown run.
Girls Soccer
On Monday, the girls traveled to Vernon and won 3-1 in the sectional quarterfinals after goals from sophomore Isabella Zingarelli, sophomore Mia Derrico, and junior Nicole Klapowitz. Then, in the sectional semifinal, the girls beat Pascack Valley 2-1 after goals from Klapowtiz and sophomore Nina Canuedo.
Volleyball
In the quarterfinal round of the state sectional tournament on Wednesday, the girls defeated Pascack Valley 2-0 at home. Junior Brenna Delaney led the team with 8 kills, while junior Jamie Kim had 7 digs, and junior Addison Gioffre totaled 18 assists. Then, on Friday, in the semifinal round versus Demarest, the girls lost 2-0 to conclude their season. In the match, Delaney led the team with 8 kills, senior Grayson Housley with 9 digs, and Gioffre with 18 assists.
