NVOT+Gives+Back

As the holiday season quickly approaches, the NVOT community, like so many others, takes time to reflect on what they have and focus on what others need. Many NVOT clubs have already given to the community and those in need. Below are details of drives that are currently running and those that have already been completed. If you’d like your club or organization’s work to be included, email [email protected] and we will update the list.

CURRENTLY RUNNING

DECA and Student Council – Student Council teamed up with DECA to promote their donation boxes for charity. People can donate canned food, food for those with dietary restrictions (like gluten free or low salt), paper plates, plastic utensils, and more. If they reach 700 donations, they will cut  Student Council advisor Lindsay Steffner’s hair and donate it to Children with Hair Loss. As of November 20, they only need 150 more donations to reach that goal. The deadline for collections is Wednesday, November 21. Steffner is also seeking volunteers to help drive the boxes of donations to the Norwood Food Pantry on Wednesday. Students interested in volunteering can email Steffner at [email protected].

GSA – The Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) is collecting boxed food items for the West Milford food pantry. Donations can be dropped off at the Wellness Center. The deadline for donations is Friday, December 15.

ALREADY COMPLETED

FBLA – The Future Business Leaders of America sold chocolate bars in October. All the money collected from the sale went to the St. Jude fund for childhood cancer patients.

Sophomore Class – Throughout October and November the sophomore class collected clothes, cleaning supplies and other household items to donate to Hope Lodge in Pennsylvania. The Hope Lodge is a place where cancer patients and their families are able to stay for free while they undergo treatment.

AP Seminar – After reading Invisible Child and taking part in a panel discussion with local experts, students in Mrs. Dee and Mrs. Sposa’s classes collected non-perishable items for the Norwood Food Pantry.
