The Latest-Bowling Starts off Hot, Girls Basketball dominates, and Wrestling Picks up where they left off

Boys Basketball

The boys started off the season 2-6 opening up the season with a 69-38 loss at St. Joes Thursday, December 14. After losses to Ramapo, Wayne Valley, and Ridgewood, the boys got a 63-49 win over Secaucus Wednesday, December 27, in the Jack Reilly Tournament. They followed that with a loss to Memorial 52-37 Thursday, December 28, and a 53-51 win versus Passaic Saturday, December 30. Senior Evan Brooks leads the team with 14.6 points per game, followed by junior Dylan Drullinsky with 9.5 points per game. 

Boys Bowling

The team has started the season with a 3-1 record. On Monday, December 11, the team won its first match versus Tenafly 7-0 followed by a 5-2 win versus Pascack Valley Wednesday, December 13. The team’s first loss came to Demarest, 4-3, on Monday, December 18, but the team responded with a 7-0 win over Teaneck Wednesday, December 20. Senior Jared Yumul leads the team with a 198.4 average score per game, followed closely by senior Ryan Jensen at 197.6 per game. 

Boys Swimming

The team started off 2-1 with a 104-66 win over Wayne Hills Thursday, December 7 and followed that with a loss to Pascack Valley on Tuesday, December 19. The team responded with a 115-49 win the next day. The team averages 6 first place finishes per meet thus far.

Girls Basketball

The girl started off the season 7-2, opening with a five game winning streak with wins over Holy Angels, Ramapo, Paramus Catholic, Wayne Valley, and Ridgewood. The girls lost their first game in the Joe Poli tournament 54-50 versus River` Dell on Tuesday, December 26th, then lost to Holy Angels on Thursday, December 28. The Girls defeated Secaucus 51-42 on Saturday, December 30. Senior Layla Giordano leads the team with 14.4 points per game followed by senior Maya Giordano with 9.2 points per game. 

Girls Bowling

The girls started off the season 2-2 with wins over Tenafly on Monday, December 11, and Teaneck on Wednesday, December 20th. The team lost to Pascack Valley on Wednesday, December 13, and Demarest on Monday, December 18. Senior HyeRim Seo leads the team with an average score of 120.1 followed by senior Ashley Park who averages a score of 118.7.

Girls Swimming

The girls also started off the season 3-1 with wins over Wayne Hills (89-81) Thursday, December 7, a loss to Pascack Valley, and then a win over Demarest the next day by a score of 106-54. The girls average 6.3 first place finishes per meet so far this season.

Indoor Track

The indoor track team has participated in four meets so far this season. Old Tappan has had top performances by pole vaulter Jamie Kim, placing fifth at the Coach Saint Invitational; triple jumper Nora Lee, placing first at the Coach Glynn Holiday Carnival; 400M runner Goran Saric, placing second at the Coach Saint Invitational; and shot put thrower Jack Small, placing first in the Garfield HS Invitational.

Wrestling

The team opened the season with senior night Wednesday, December 20, with a 61-18 win over Teaneck. Sophomore Leo DeCandia, Freshman Luke Bedoya, junior Johnny Rotolo, junior Timothy Lee, senior Brian McElroy, senior Caleb Kim, junior Ryan Sullivan, and junior Jack Hochron all won their matches by pin while senior Diego Osorio and sophomore Peter Fowley won by decision.
