The Latest-Girls Basketball Starts Winning Streak, both Swimming Teams pick up Wins, and Cheer Wins Competition

Boys Basketball: The boys started off the week on Tuesday with a 62-46 loss to Tenafly followed by a 49-47 loss to Bergenfield on Thursday. Over the weekend, the team defeated Glen Rock 65-48. Senior Evan Brooks scored 24 points in the win, followed by 15 from sophomore Issac Shrager.

Boys Bowling: On Wednesday, the boys defeated Bergenfield 7-0 led by senior Jared Yumul’s average score of 205. On Friday, the team lost 7-0 to Bergen Tech.

Boys Swimming: On Wednesday, the boys picked up a 94-75 win over Paramus. As a team, Old Tappan placed first in seven different categories of the meet. 

Cheer: On Sunday, January 7, the cheer team placed first at the “In the Valley” competition at Wayne Valley. 

Girls Basketball: The girls beat Tenafly on Tuesday 54-39, then defeated Bergenfield 61-16 on Thursday. Senior Layla Giordano averaged 17.5 points per game throughout the week, followed by sophomore Mia Derrico with 8.5 points per game, and senior Maya Giordano with 7 points per game. 

Girls Bowling: On Wednesday, the girls defeated Bergenfield 5-2 and then lost to Bergen Tech 7-0 on Friday. Senior HyeRim Seo led the team with an average score of 121 throughout the week. 

Girls Swimming: On Wednesday, the girls defeated Paramus 93-74 as the team placed first in every competition except for one. 

Wrestling: The boys had their first loss at home against Clifton 42-33 on Friday, January 5th. On Saturday, January 6th, the boys competed in a dual match versus Emerson, Hasbrouck Heights, and Roxbury. The boys were victorious over Hasbrouck Heights, Roxbury and one loss to Emerson. Senior Ryan Oneill tied a school record with a nine second pin.

Ice Hockey: The NV hockey team played Vernon at home on January 3rd. They beat Vernon 7-3, with 4 goals from Tyler Gaspin, 1 goal from Olver Berenbroik, and 1 goal each from Aiden Casbar and Jacob Casbar.
