From the way you wear your hair to the shoes on your feet, each item of fashion can say a lot about a person.With the summer season coming to a close, new trends have been emerging left and right. Everyone here at NVOT dresses differently, but there are definitely some recurring trends floating around our hallways.

Here are some of the most popular trends as of lately: 

White Fox

Despite being based in Australia, White Fox has managed to make itself a notable trend here. These viral hoodies have taken their place in many teenage girls’ wardrobes. Because of their comfy and sleek look, they’ve become a prominent schoolgirl staple. The brand’s creative social media use and collaborations with various influencers have allowed it to become the sensation that it is now. Whether you wear the hoodies, sweatpants, or both of them together, the White Fox brand is the perfect fit for anyone seeking to be comfortable and fashionable at the same time.

Summer Fridays 

When you see a girl whip out a lip product from her bag, nine times out of ten it’s the Summers Fridays lip butter balm. This award-winning makeup phenomenon has completely taken over our school. With its adorable packaging, smooth application, and instant hydration and shine, there’s no question about why it’s become so popular. Although it is a little pricey for a lip balm, at $24 for one tube, most people would agree that the quality makes it 100% worth it. As of now, it comes in eight different colors; Pink Sugar, Vanilla, Sweet Mint, Iced Coffee, Vanilla Beige, Brown Sugar, Cherry, and Poppy. They also had a limited edition shade called birthday cake, which instantly sold out in stores after its release. Overall, the Summer Fridays lip balm trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere as of now, so be sure to jump in on it!

Adidas Shoes

Over the summer, Adidas shoes, especially Sambas, became increasingly popular. Starting the first day of school, all different kinds of Adidas shoes were spotted walking through the hallways. Whether it was a pair of metallic silver sambas or a bright green pair of Adidas Campuses (another popular sneaker), these sneakers have been incredibly popular. They’re something so easy to wear that anyone can style. Going into fall, they will definitely continue to grow in popularity. They come in every color from black and white to glittery rainbow. This trend is something so easy that people participate in because, let’s be real, everyone wears sneakers.

Tennis Skirts

This trend is so cute, but with the fall weather approaching it won’t be around for much longer. People have been dressing down skirts for school, especially tennis/ athletic skirts. Girls pair them with a basic tee-shirt or tank top to put together a cute, simple yet elevated outfit. This trend is super cute, but fading fast because of the weather, so be sure to catch it before it’s gone.

Slick Back Hair 

Stepping away from clothes, this would not be a current fashion article if slick back hair was not mentioned. It is the perfect lazy girl hairstyle that is easy, but at the same time is so effortlessly chic and trendy. A slick back is when a person’s hair is tied back and slicked down. The simple hairstyle makes any basic outfit look more elevated and put together.  What is awesome about slick backs is that everyone can make one work. Whether they put their hair in a braid, a bun, or a ponytail, a slick back can look good on anyone.  

Puffer Vests

Puffer vests have been making a stylish comeback over the past few years. During the fall and winter time, girls tend to wear puffer vests with their outfits. These vests are becoming extremely popular because they’re much lighter than heavy jackets and coats. They also can be worn many ways, but many teenage girls layer their puffer vests with a long sleeve shirt or sweater. If you’re not sure whether or not to bring a jacket to school, a puffer vest is a perfect option since it provides just the right amount of warmth and comfort. 

Skims clothing

Following the ‘clean girl trend’, the Skims clothing line has been gaining popularity for their comfy and versatile pieces of clothing. People have been pairing the comfy ‘Skims cotton rib tank’ or ‘Skims fits everybody t-shirt’ with sweatpants, and some choose to dress it up with a pair of jeans or a skirt. With its breathable material and vast color scheme, it’s no question why skims has taken over students’ wardrobes. Mini Uggs have been trending and fashionable amongst all teenagers. Mini Uggs bring such nostalgia and are a very cozy boot. What’s great about Uggs is that they can be paired with literally any outfit. Uggs can come in many different colors and styles; they’re super comfortable and warm thanks to Uggs signature wool lining. However, when wearing Uggs, it’s important to avoid wet areas because it can cause permanent damage to the boots, making them unwearable. 

Fashion here at NVOT is very unique. Students are able to dress in a way that expresses themselves on a personal level. The clothes and shoes you wear, the jewelry you put on, the style of your hair, all helps teenagers figure out who they are.
