Baseball Gets Hot, Boys Golf Goes On Three Game Win Streak, and Girls Lacrosse Wins Three in a Row

Baseball: The boys went 4-0 this week with two wins versus Tenafly on Monday and Wednesday, a 3-0 win over Northern Highlands on Friday, and a 9-6 win over Passaic Tech on Saturday. Senior Richard Gutschmidt pitched eight scoreless innings throughout the week.

Boys Golf: On Monday, the team defeated Fort Lee 163-187. Then, on Tuesday, the boys defeated Pascack Hills 160-196 before beating Bergenfield 170-245 on Wednesday. Freshman James Ko led the team with an average score of 39.6 across the week.

Boys Lacrosse: The team lost to Lakeland 11-3 on Wednesday, then were defeated by Dwight Englewood 6-5 on Saturday. Freshman Nick Blanchard led the team in scoring with six goals during the week. 

Girls Lacrosse: On Monday, the girls defeated Newark Academy 14-11. Senior Allyson Sheldon had five goals while Sophomore Mia Derrico totaled four goals. On Wednesday, the team defeated Bergen Tech 13-3 behind four goals from sophomore Charlotte Malady. Saturday, the girls beat River Dell 9-4 where Sheldon scored four goals. 

Softball: The girls started off the week with a 10-6 win over Bergenfield on Monday. Senior Grayson Housley had three hits and three stolen bases. On Wednesday, the girls lost 4-1 to Ramsey. Then, on Friday, the girls beat Tenafly 22-0 behind freshman Erin Huelster’s home run and six RBI’s. On Saturday, the girls lost 3-0 to Rutherford in the breathe easy tournament. Junior Jamie Farrington pitched six innings only allowing three runs.

Track & Field: The team competed at the Bergen County Relays with the field events taking place on April 17 and the rest of the events taking place from April 19-20. Senior Allie Tuite and juniors Jamie Kim and Salome Sanchez broke the school’s girls pole vault relay record with a combined height of 31 feet. Additionally, senior Layla Giordano and Jack Small both finished first in their respective discus and shot put events Lastly, senior Abby Dennis placed first in the 400M Hurdles, and senior Evan Brooks placed first in javelin.

Boys Tennis: On Monday, the boys defeated River Dell 3-2 after wins from senior John Oh, junior Kiran Gurunathan in singles and seniors Owen Young and Peter Setrakian in doubles. On Tuesday, the team beat Teaneck 5-0, with wins by Gurunathan, Oh, and senior Noah Kim in singles, and doubles wins by Setrakian & Young and junior William Kwon & senior Michael Bochi. 

Boys Volleyball: On April 16 the boys played away at Bergenfield and lost in straight sets. Both sets were decently close and were missing players due to spring break. On April 18 they played away at Fair Lawn and again lost in straight sets. Then on April 19 they played home against Paterson east side and won in straight sets. The teams overall record now is 4-4.
